When you do not get a Google AdSense cheque in India

1. Log in to your Google AdSense account.

2. Go to the tab 'view payment history'.

3. Click on the details link next to the words "payment issued".

4. In a new explorer window go to the website of the courier which delivers the cheque – in my case, it is Blue Dart – and click on the tracker tool tab. For Blue Dart this is the link: Blue Dart shipment tracking tool

5. Select Reference No. and in the box copy-paste the Payment number from your Google AdSense account. It will be a 9-digit number, beginning with zero. Do not put the zero when copy-pasting to the tracking tool box.

Note: On some occasions, I have even got a payment tracking number of 11 digits showing in my account, written as BlueDart XXXXX. If this is given, it is the Blue Dart Waybill Number & not the Reference Number.

How to re-apply for a Google AdSense cheque
1. Go to this link: Application for re-issuance of Google AdSense cheque

You will see a query "Have you received the check you'd like to reissue?" Select "No" if you have genuinely not got the cheque.

2. Fill in the details very carefully.

3. In the box for amount, do not put in $ or Rs. For example, if it is $113.38, just put 112.28.

4. Select 'Other' option.

5. In the long rectangular space below, write the appropriate text. In my case, since the cheque was not delivered by Blue Dart due to non-location of address, I wrote:

Blue Dart did not deliver shipment because they could not locate my address. I have been receiving the cheques over 2 years at the same address each time and have not changed my address. Please re-issue my cheque.

To my pleasant surprise, within minutes I got an email from Google Inc. stating that the cheque will be re-issued and that if by chance I did get the original cheque (they give the cheque number), I should not deposit it in my Bank account. They also stated that the amount would show up in my payment history & if it was credited there before the 15th of the month, I would receive it in that month's payment; otherwise, if it showed after the 15th of the month, it would be included in the next month.

Note: This was the second time I had put in the request for the re-issuance of the cheque. The first time round, I had selected 'local delivery issue' instead of 'other'. So Google sent me an email stating that I should wait for 60 days and then re-apply for the cheque.

I suggest that you select 'Other' option only if you have had a problem like mine of non-location of address by the courier. You must select the correct option as per the problem you faced. It is possible, for example, that during the time the payment was issued and the time the courier arrived at your residence, you suddenly changed your address. In that case, let Google know about it while applying for a re-issuance of the cheque.

Suggestions:

  • As soon as you see the words "Payment issued" in your Google AdSense account, start tracking it right away on a daily basis through the tracking tool.
  • When contacting the courier, I think it is wise not to mention the word cheque. Refer to it as shipment.
  • If you happen to suddenly need to go out of town and nobody would be at home to receive your cheque, it is best you send an email and call up the courier, requesting them to send it on a particular date and time when you would be at home.

  • You can even go personally to the courier's office and pick up your shipment. Take a printout of the payment issued details and carry along with you a Xerox copy of proof of your residential address.
